What you’ll need to make an Avocado and Labneh Sandwich
Sourdough – I’m making this with sourdough bread as it gives this breakfast sandwich a body and texture, but you can opt for whole wheat bread or even tortillas if you like.
Labneh –Adding labneh to this sandwich is like adding cheese to bread. Try it out, and you will love it.
Arugula – I like to keep it green and healthy, so I’m using arugula.
Avocado – Avocado is a super food that makes this Labneh sandwich a protein-packed snack.
Tomato and Onion Slices –Tomato and onion slices to add sweetness and crunch to this avocado labneh sandwich.
Chives – For a flavor uplift.
Salt and Pepper – Add salt and pepper to taste.
Chili flakes – For a spice uplift. You can adjust chili flakes to your liking if you prefer lightly spiced sandwiches.
Balsamic glaze – You’ll love how a balsamic glaze complements creamy avocado and labneh in this homemade avocado labneh sandwich.

Avocado and Labneh Sandwich FAQs
What Is Labneh?
Labneh is a traditional Middle Eastern cheese made from strained yogurt with tangy notes. It is similar to Greek yogurt but has a different low-fat, dense, creamy texture. It is one of the tastiest and the most versatile yogurt-based delicacies in the Middle East.
Traditional labneh is strained for 1 to 2 days in a cheesecloth over a strainer or colander, resulting in thick, crumbly cheese. Some people add a little salt. It can be enjoyed as a spread for sandwiches, with olive oil, za’atar, and hot spices, or simply with honey and walnuts.
How to store labneh?
The best way to keep the labneh fresh is to store it in a tightly sealed, clean glass jar in the refrigerator. If stored properly, you can use labneh for up to 2 weeks.
Why sourdough for a sandwich?
Sourdough bread is the best option for avocado and labneh sandwiches. The bread’s tangy flavor, chewy texture, and crisp, crackly crust make it a perfect choice for this sandwich. Additionally, sourdough bread’s condensed texture absorbs moisture and works well with labneh and avocado.
What do you use balsamic glaze for?
Balsamic glaze is sauce made from balsamic vinegar that you can use for adding extra flavor to recipes. This dark brown glossy glaze is an excellent sauce for wraps, sandwiches, grilled steaks, and other types of red meat. It is also great for drizzling over a fresh green salad. It’s very versatile and can be used as a dipping sauce. It’s also used to enhance the flavor of fruit, vegetables, snacks, and desserts.
